WHO WE ARE
The Palace Singers was founded by the former Headmaster of the Cathedral School, Peter Allwood, in 2007. The choir was initially for the benefit of teachers and parents but has since widened to include anyone in the community. The choir takes its name from the beautiful 17th century Bishop’s Palace that now houses the Cathedral School.
There are no auditions to join the Palace Singers and the choir performs a wide range of music; from folk songs, madrigals, contemporary music to large-scale choral pieces.
The choir still occasionally supports the school concerts and productions creating an opportunity to sing in Lichfield Cathedral. The choir is developing its own concert programme with a variety of events planned for the future – please see our Facebook page for details as they are announced.
Under the musical direction of Liam Condon, the choir rehearses in St. Chad's on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.
Come and Sing for Joy with The Palace Singers!
We would like more people to know about our wonderful choir. We welcome new members, particularly those singing tenor or bass; please get in touch if you would like to come along to a rehearsal to try us out. We are a friendly group of people that come together to sing and we try to enjoy a get together at the pub at least once a term.
We rehearse on Tuesday nights at 7.30pm in the spacious St Chad’s Church, at the north-east end of Stowe Pool
