The Palace Singers

A community choir meeting weekly in Lichfield Cathedral School Chapel

SOLD OUT

Here are some highlights from our social and musical events over the last few years.

WHO WE ARE

The Palace Singers was founded by the former Headmaster of the Cathedral School, Peter Allwood, in 2007. The choir was initially for the benefit of teachers and parents but has since widened to include anyone in the community. The choir takes its name from the beautiful 17th century Bishop’s Palace that now houses the Cathedral School.

There are no auditions to join the Palace Singers and the choir performs a wide range of music; from folk songs, madrigals, contemporary music to large-scale choral pieces.

The choir still occasionally supports the school concerts and productions creating an opportunity to sing in Lichfield Cathedral.  The choir is developing its own concert programme with events planned for later this year and in 2020.

Under the musical direction of Mitchell Holland, the choir rehearses in the School Chapel on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

Come and Sing for Joy with The Palace Singers!

We would like more people to know about our wonderful choir.  We welcome new members of the choir, particularly those singing tenor or bass. There is currently a waiting list for soprano and alto but please get in touch if you would like to come along to a rehearsal to try us out. We are a friendly group of men and women that come together to sing and we try to enjoy a get together at the pub at least once a term.

We rehearse on Tuesday nights at 7.30pm in the beautiful School Chapel next to the Bishops Palace.

Please get in touch and we will arrange for someone to meet you and show you the way to The Chapel.
